Fishy business in New Orleans this October

New Orleans is world-renowned for the taste and quality of its seafood, much of which comes from the nearby Gulf of Mexico. Why does seafood from Louisiana taste so good? Simply because it is fresher. And the shortest trip to your table means the freshest product!

Hence it’s no surprise that Louisiana leads the nation in production of both hard and soft-shell crabs. The facts tell the story. A total of 69 per cent of domestic US shrimp are harvested from the Gulf waters. In a blind taste test, 85 per cent of American consumers chose Louisiana oysters over those sold elsewhere in the US. And 70 per cent of oysters caught in the US are from the Gulf Coast. So it’s only natural that seafood-lovers head to the southern state and, in particular, its cosmopolitan capital, New Orleans.

Given that reputation, it’s no wonder that New Orleans has become a favorite venue for organizers of an annual seafood festival. And, naturally enough – in a city where no excuse for a party is allowed to pass – the 2013 seafood festival, which will be held over a three-day weekend in Woldenberg Park in New Orleans’ French quarter, between October 11-13, will also have plenty of other diversions on offer. You can expect live entertainment, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations and local arts and crafts as well as impromptu street parties.

You can sample oysters, crawfish, crab and shrimps, to name but a few of the special dishes that will be served up. And you can enjoy offerings from top New Orleans restaurants, including Acme Oyster House, Arnaud’s, Drago’s, Galatoire’s, Mr. B’s Bistro, Red Fish Grill, Remoulade and Saltwater Grill.

October is also the time of NOLA’s Oktoberfest, a celebration of everything that is best about Bavarian culture – notably the beer and the sausages! So why not kill two festivals with one stone and come to NOLA in October? The weather’s still warm but humidity levels will be starting to drop and you will be assured of a great welcome wherever you go.

If you would like to attend NOLA’s October Seafood Festival and need a ride around town, want to reach one of the events or need to get to a restaurant or hotel – we can help you. Simply give us a call at (877) 592-2226 and we will take care of the rest. Check our  limo rates
