Once again it’s time for Mardi Gras and, as always, the carnival of mythical, mystical and legendary krewes will entertain us with the best parades, balls and parties. This year’s Mardi Gras began on Sunday, January 20, 2013 and will continue until Mardi Gras day on February 12, 2013. With a total number of 68 krewes, there is definitely a lot to experience. Even though krewes such as Rex, Zulu, Bacchus, Endymion or Orpheus are renowned for their parades, ultimately it is hard to say which make the finest spectacle. Whatever you choose, you definitely can’t go wrong with Mardi Gras. As usual, all the days have several parades booked one after another, so wherever you are, whether it’s Uptown, the French Quarter, Metairie or somewhere else, you are sure to get a feel for the authentic atmosphere of the carnival. As Chris Rose, author and New Orleans resident says: “Mardi Gras is the love of life. It is the harmonic convergence of our food, our music, our creativity, our eccentricity, our neighborhoods, and our joy of living. All at once.”
Be sure to pack comfortable clothing as the weather, though often warm during the day, can become cooler during the night parades. And why not carry a costume or mask of your own?
And if you need to get around town to glimpse of more of the krewes, you can always rely on us to give you an enjoyable ride in one of our luxurious air-conditioned limousines.
