New Orleans, alongside other cities like New York and Paris has been romanticized in numerous works of fiction. But it has also been celebrated by a lot of famous artists and writers around the world, who have all fell in love with the city.

“There are only two things: love and the music of New Orleans. Everything else ought to go, because everything else is ugly. “

The famous Boris Vian once said about the Louisiana capital. Vian is a French polymath, mostly known for his writings and poems. Among one of his most famous writings include I Spit on Your Graves, The Dead All Have the Same Skin and his poetry collected in the book I Would Like Not to Die.

“If you’re open to it, New Orleans will teach you about yourself, but if you want to hide from who you really are, the city will help you do that, too. “

Laurell K. Hamilton, a famous American fantasy and romance writer, mostly noted for her best-selling novel Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter is one of the people that shares a deep emotional connection with New Orleans.

Charles Bukowski, one of the most notable figures of the beat generation, expressed his feelings about the city via one of his poems called Young In New Orleans.

The eccentric alcoholic writer of one of masterpiece novels such as Post Office and Factotum, who’s writings have been mostly influenced by the social, cultural and economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles, has a special passion for the city of New Orleans.

“America has only three cities: New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland.”

Tennessee Williams commented on the city of New Orleans. Williams is most famous for his playwriting for the American theatre and received virtually all of the top theatrical awards for his works of drama, including several New York Drama Critics’ Circle awards.
