Top New Orleans Events – November 2012

With Halloween parties still withering away, people and guests of New Orleans are looking forward to November. One of the most festive months in US will offer numerous events to spend your time beside the traditional family gatherings.

• Our list starts with Louisiana Swamp Festival on November 3-4. Alligators, muddy waterways,sweet traditional songs, zydeco dance lessons, cajun food are all part of the famous swamp culture, established since the first Louisiana settlers arrived around 1700. Hungry? Try the fried alligator, crawfish bread, crabcakes, cracklins cooked from some of the best chefs in the region.

• The Treme Creole Gumbo Festival will gather creole and cajun food admirers on November 10-11 in Congo Square and Louis Armstrong Park. Hosted by New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, the fest will feature also some of the world famous New Orleans brass bands like Soul Rebels, Dirty Dozen, Pinettes, Stooges, Hot 8 and many others.

Three Rivers Art Festival will also take place during the weekend of November 10-11 in Covington – the cultural art district in New Orleans. Take a walk along more than 200 tents where local artists will show their paintings, crafts and photographs. There will be also Culinary Arts Outdoor Café, Children’s Discovery Area and Music Tent.

• On Sunday November 18th you are invited to the traditional Po-Boy festival on Oak Street in Carollton. Expect live music and art activities for kids and grown-ups beside tasting of the famous Po-Boy sandwiches with seafood, roast beef and of course vegetarian.
